The launch of
Marsnik 1 was unsuccessful. The launch of Marsnik 2 failed when the
third stage turbo pumps were not able to generate enough fuel pressure.
As a result, the third stage failed to ignite and the rocket was unable to
obtain an Earth parking orbit. The vehicle reached a maximum altitude of
120 km before falling back to Earth resulting in the loss of the vehicle.
